GET EXCITED!!

Get excited! Things are beginning to take shape down here at ISBIM headquarters. The new collection for summer 2011 is well underway, and we have a new facebook fan page which, come to think of it, you are probably already aware of if you are reading this right now.

We are currently in the process of finalising the final range line up for the mens and womanswear ISBIM 2011, which is starting to shape up as another one of the wearable and fresh collections that ISBIM is known for.

Hope you have an amazing start to the new year and manage to keep all your new years reslolutions... mine is to ease off on the shopping and chocolate eating a bit... clearly i still believe in miracles!

Merry Christmas to everyone from the ISBIM team!

Hope you all had an amazing day and best wishes for the new years celebration!

Next summers inspiration and colour palette are derived from the desert and with its tonal beiges, browns and cremes. But 'desert texture' also plays a key role in our fabric choices. We are trying to keep the fibres natural, usuing a lot of silk, cotton and linen. To create texture there will be attention paid to details such as pintucking, gathers and pleats. Some fabrics will be de-constructed, others will have a crinkle put through them; all to create the effect of the rough natural beauty of the desert we were inspired by.

PICKING FABRIC....

Picking fabrics is always one of the most stressful and time consuming jobs of a fashion designer. So in true ISBIM style, the team here believes the best way to get through this task is with a glass of wine or two. Maybe three. And then maybe a double shot of gin. Now I’m hungry. What was I talking about again? Oh right, fabric…

NUEVO ISBIM NEW TEAM

Founded in 2006 by Joshua Jang, fashion label ISBIM (standing for ‘I still believe in Miracles’) has built its reputation in edgy, high end urban wear. But with two new designers at the helm, ISBIM is seeking to rebrand itself as a more directional, and ambitious label.

New designers Joseph Mow and Heather Rutherford are relative newcomers to the New Zealand fashion scene, and are bringing their fresh perspective to ISBIM. This 2011 S/S cruise collection began with drawing inspiration from the colour palette and texture of the Sahara Desert. But as Heather explains, these inspirations are often just a ‘starting point’, and the end result of the design process can end up leading you somewhere quite different, “That’s the really fascinating part, you can begin with a set of images or ideas, and gradually it evolves and changes until you have something that can often barely resembles where you started. That’s what I like, the unexpectedness of the design journey.”

While trying to expand the label from its origins, both Heather and Joseph want to still pay their respects to ISBIM’s roots. That is quirky, but cool t-shirt designs. In the past this has meant their signature, highly wearable, graphic print tees, and while their will still be plenty of their signature look, both designers are pushing the boundaries of t-shirt design with experimentation in fabric and cut. This is sure to yield some exciting results for Summer 2011!
